In this section, Most Reverend Frédéric Rubwejanga addresses the question of how the Churches in the Great Lakes region strengthen collaboration among themselves for peacebuilding. Msgr. John Onaiyekan, Archbishop of Abujaand and President of SECAM, takes a look back over the past 40 years of history in Africa and the answers given by a young African Church to the challenges of a chaotic socio-political situation. Bishop John H. Ricard, SSJ, addresses the challenge of how the universal Church can help strengthen the capacity of the Church in the Great Lakes region to engage in peacebuilding. Another document is by the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria who sent a statement to the government of Rwanda. And, finally, Fr. don Francesco Tedeschi of Communita’di Sant’ Egidio, Rome, delivers his thoughts on the work of the Church for peace in the Great Lakes region.
