Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has made a concerted effort to pursue its programming in The Philippines consistent with the Catholic Social Teaching mandate of global solidarity. As CRS has written, this relates directly to the Papal Enclyclical Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth). Here is an excerpt:
Today humanity appears much more interactive than in the past: this shared sense of being close to one another must be transformed into true communion. The development of peoples depends, above all, on a recognition that the human race is a single family working together in true communion, not simply a group of subjects who happen to live side by side. As in many other parts of the world, diocesan partnerships have been formed. For example, a Global Solidarity Partnership has been formed between the Anchorage Archdiocese of the United States and the Cotabato Archdiocese of The Philippines.
