Stanford Colloquium 2014

At this event hosted by former Secretary of State George Schultz, former Secretary of Defense William Perry, and former Senator Sam Nunn, forty bishops, policy specialists, Catholic scholars and students gathered to explore ways of making a world without nuclear weapons a reality. It was made possible by support from the Nuclear Threat Initiative and was sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Office of International Justice and Peace; Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies; Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs; Boston College; and the Catholic Peacebuilding Network. The colloquium was the launch of a larger project intended to empower a new generation of Catholic bishops, scholars, professionals and students to address the ethical and policy challenges of reducing and eliminating nuclear weapons.
