After an Extraordinary Plenary Assembly on February 20-25, the Catholic Bishops of the Democratic Republic of Congo (CENCO) issued a statement regarding increased socio-political tensions in the country.  The bishops express dismay over outbreaks of violence and deteriorating security in several parts of the DRC, and call on the people to maintain courage and resist violence.  They also press the country's political leadership to restore just security and to follow through on implementing elections according to the December 31st agreement that CENCO helped bring about.
