Sant'Egidio Facilitates Cessation of Hostilities in South Sudan

On January 14, in Rome, Sant'Egidio helped facilitate an agreement between the government of South Sudan and a coalition of opposition groups that did not sign the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan. The agreement promises a full cessation of hostilities and allows for increased humanitarian access. The agreement is an important step forward for stabilizing the country and building a lasting political solution to the country's prolonged conflict.
