Statement from Caritas South Sudan

Author: Caesar Montevecchio

Following their partners meeting in Juba, South Sudan on April 30-May 1, Caritas South Sudan issued a statement attempting to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in the country. They note that the suffering and human rights problems caused by continued political unrest and "politicized tribalism" are about to worsen as the country enters its rainy season. They call upon Caritas Internationalis to help sensitize the international community to the problems, to continue supporting efforts for a permanent peace, and to also empower and accompany their local Caritas partners as they attempt to provide the needed humanitarian support.
